A New Chapter for WAS Hong Kong with the Opening of Its Senior School
Recently, Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong (WASHK) celebrated a significant milestone — the formal opening of our Senior School. To mark this occasion, we welcomed two distinguished representatives from Wycombe Abbey UK: Patrick Sherrington, Chairman of Wycombe Abbey International, and Diana Rose, Director of Wycombe Abbey International and Governor.
Their visit was an opportunity to experience our school community firsthand. In addition to attending the official opening ceremony and gala dinner, Mr. Sherrington and Ms. Rose observed lessons, met pupils and staff, and engaged in thoughtful discussions on school development, teaching and learning, and pupil welfare. In an exclusive interview, they shared their impressions and aspirations for WASHK.
Q&A with Wycombe Abbey Leadership
Q: How would you describe Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong in three words?
Diana Rose: I would describe it as happy, purposeful, and supportive.
Q: In what ways does WASHK reflect the spirit and traditions of Wycombe Abbey UK?
Patrick Sherrington: I think it’s built on the ethos and culture of the UK school. It places an emphasis on personal development, academic achievement, and wider social skills.
Diana Rose: It’s light. The rooms are very well designed. It has a welcoming atmosphere. Its location means that it can benefit from leisure facilities and sporting facilities nearby, which is very helpful, and it feels modern and ideal for older students. There’s plenty of space for them. I would add to that, it’s got a very grown-up feel because it’s a city campus and you’ve got Hong Kong life all around you, so it feels a bit like almost a college.
