Wycombe Abbey – UAE ‘Global Perspectives’ Summer School Ends at WAS Hangzhou
Global Perspective in China
Last year, WAS established a significant partnership with the UAE federal government agency ‘Emirates Schools Establishment’, selecting ninety outstanding teenagers to attend the Global Perspective in China Summer School in WAS Hangzhou and WAS Changzhou.
The inaugural summer school garnered overwhelmingly positive feedback, with WAS’s exceptional campus facilities and diverse academic curriculum making a strong impression on UAE students and teachers. Its meticulously curated field studies further immersed them in the profound depth of Chinese culture.
A year later, the arrival of the second cohort of UAE students in late July marked another launch of the ‘Global Perspectives in China’ programme, signifying a deepened and solidified collaboration.
Global Perspectives in China: This summer exchange programme for non-mainland Chinese students is delivered through bilingual (Chinese-primary) instruction alongside immersive extracurricular activities. It fosters cultural resonance and broadens global outlooks, serving as a platform for cultural exchanges with China.
Mr William Bellamy, Lead of the Programme, noted that it’s WAS’s mission to connect Chinese and global education and we take pride in guiding future UAE leaders through an authentic experience of Chinese culture, planting seeds of Sino-UAE friendship.
He also mentioned that many UAE students want to return next year; others invited us to the UAE—genuine gestures to sustain this cultural exchange.
